Since 1995, the City of Greenville has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as an official Tree City USA. In order to achieve this distinction, a city must possess a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
Every year, the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department and Keep Greenville Beautiful host an Arbor Day celebration to educate the community on the importance of trees. The celebration features guest speakers, elementary school entertainment, and more.
For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (903) 457-2994.
